NEWARK, Del. (July 1, 2019) – Delmarva Power Maryland customers can now take advantage of new rebates to help offset the cost of electric vehicle (EV) chargers. The rebates are part of Delmarva Power's new EVsmart Program, which provides rebates, tools, and information to help customers make more informed decisions when it comes to making the transition to a cleaner transportation option. Through this new program, Delmarva Power provides two types of vehicle charger rebates:
Delmarva Power customers seeking more information on the company's efforts to support the transition to cleaner, more efficient EVs should visit delmarva.com/electricvehicles. Delmarva Power Maryland customers can apply for EV charger rebates and explore the company's EV toolkit, which allows customers to learn the basics of EV charging, use a savings calculator to compare the cost of gas versus electric-powered vehicles, view available state and federal tax incentives, and locate local EV dealers.
In addition, Delmarva Power will launch and operate its own EV charging network in Maryland with the first installations by fall 2019. EV drivers will be able to charge their vehicles at 100 Delmarva Power-owned Level 2 smart chargers or DC Fast Chargers at competitive rates. The chargers will be located across the Eastern Shore of Maryland, providing drivers flexibility and the ability to travel without worry that they will run out of power.
The EVsmart Program fuels progress on Maryland's Air Quality and Chesapeake Bay goals, which include having 300,000 zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) on the road by 2025; currently, less than 20,000 ZEVs are registered in the state.
For Delmarva Power Delaware customers, the Delaware Public Service Commission recently approved an EV program that allows Delmarva Power to offer new EV services for residential customers and in public spaces. The approved services will expand public charging infrastructure and offer a new rate option for Delmarva Power Delaware residential customers who charge their EVs at home. The new services are expected to become available over the course of the next year.
