Local Students to Receive More Than $70,000 in Scholarships Generated By 25th Annual Delmarva Power Golf Classic

NEWARK, Del. (June 11, 2019) – Eight local organizations and schools are receiving more than $70,000 in funds for scholarships generated by the 2019 Delmarva Scholarship Golf Classic. The annual Delmarva Power charity golf tournament held this year at the Heritage Shores Club in Bridgeville, Del., has raised more than $2 million since it began more than 25 years ago.

The benefits of this year's event will be provided to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Delaware State University, the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, the Kingswood Community Center Foundation, Delaware Workforce Development Board Youth Scholarship, A. Richard Hefron Scholarship Fund, and the Kids of the National Guard Camp Fund for the development of local scholarships. The scholarships will be provided to local students over the coming year as recognition for achievements, such as excelling in academics, community service, and focusing on STEM activities. This year, 144 players from across the region played in the tournament.

Delmarva Power is committed to community involvement and being a good corporate citizen for the communities where its employees live and work. In 2018, Delmarva Power contributed more than $1.2 million to local nonprofits, while its employees volunteered nearly 16,000 hours to help hundreds of organizations throughout Delaware and Maryland.
