NEWARK, Del. (April 21, 2017) - A test conservation period will be called from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, April 24, 2017 for Delmarva Power Delaware's voluntary Energy Wise Rewards program. The purpose of the test is to properly assess the program's equipment prior to the peak summer season.
For participating Delmarva Power Delaware customers, we will cycle participants' air conditioner compressors off and on for short intervals during this time period. Because the air conditioner fans will continue to run, most customers will not notice a temperature change in their homes. It may take up to a half-hour after the test event ends at 1 p.m. for air conditioners to resume normal operations.
Energy Wise Rewards is a voluntary program that offers our customers a choice of a web-programmable thermostat or an outdoor switch, which we install at no charge. During summer periods of peak electric demand, Energy Wise Rewards works to reduce electricity usage by cycling central air conditioner compressors off and on for short periods during times of peak electricity use. Customers will receive a one-time bill reduction of up to $80 when we install the EWR device in their home.
