For Immediate Release
NEWARK, DE (April 20, 2016) - A test conservation period will be
called from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 21 for Delmarva Power's
voluntary Energy Wise Rewards program
in order to test the equipment prior to the peak summer season.
For participating customers, Delmarva
Power will cycle off and on participants' air conditioner compressors for short
intervals during this time frame. Because the air conditioner fans will
continue to run, most customers will not notice a temperature change in their
homes. It may take up to a half-hour after the test event ends for air
conditioners to resume normal operations.
Energy Wise Rewards is a voluntary program that offers customers a choice of a web-programmable
thermostat or an outdoor switch, which the utility installs at no charge to
customers. During summer periods of peak electric demand, Energy Wise Rewards works to reduce electricity usage by cycling
off and on air conditioner compressors for short periods during times of peak
electricity use. Customers receive bill reductions in return for allowing
Delmarva Power to cycle their air conditioners a few days each year. Customers
using Energy Wise Rewards can also save money by conserving energy.
Customers can learn more about Energy Wise Rewards by calling 1-866-353-5799 or visiting www.delmarva.com/rewards.
