Delmarva Power Crews Restore the Majority of Customers
New Castle, Del. -
On the morning of April, 8, 2013, a third party contractor struck a Delmarva Power natural gas line in the Washington Park section of the Town of New Castle, Del. Upon notification of the incident, Delmarva Power immediately dispatched crews to the scene, turned off natural gas service to the area and began repairing the system.
As of noon today, April 9, 2013, 440 customers, natural gas service has been restored. Restoration is estimated to be complete by 4 p.m. today with minimal outages remaining, representing customers who have not been at home to allow the entire restoration process to take place. We will respond to re-light requests from these customers on a case by case basis.
Delmarva Power would like to thank its natural gas customers for their patience, support and understanding during the outage as we work diligently to complete the restoration process.
If you smell a strong gas odor:
• Delmarva Power advises customers that if you notice a strong natural gas odor, or if there is other evidence of a natural gas leak, do not enter the premises.
• If you smell the odor of natural gas inside your home, leave immediately.
• As a precaution, do not smoke, make a spark or flame, switch the lights on/off or raise/lower the windows.
