For Immediate Release
SALISBURY, Md. - Elementary school-aged children in Maryland are invited to participate in Delmarva Power's Pledge to Save Art Contest. To participate, children should draw a picture illustrating how they are saving energy at home, at school or at play. The contest deadline is December 16, 2011.
The art contest is part of Delmarva Power's Pledge to Save campaign to inform Maryland customers of ways to save money while conserving energy. It supports the goals of EmPOWER Maryland, a statewide initiative that seeks to reduce energy use in Maryland by 15 percent by 2015.
Children can help their families become more energy efficient by turning off lights and electronic devices when not in use, shutting doors tightly when entering or leaving the indoors, and ensuring windows are closed when heating or cooling systems are on. These and other energy-saving tips are explained in Delmarva Power's Energy Detective activity book, a free educational resource that uses puzzles, word searches, coloring pages and other fun activities to teach children about energy conservation.
Artwork should be submitted along with the signed entry and parental consent form by December 16, 2011, to the following address:
