Emergency Services Partnership Program Continues to Benefit Public Safety Organizations
SALISBURY , Md. - Delmarva Power's Emergency Services Partnership Program today donated residential smoke alarms to fire safety officials for distribution throughout Maryland's Eastern Shore. Maryland fire safety officials received 2,000 regular smoke alarms and 70 special needs smoke alarms for the deaf and hard of hearing. The special needs alarms emit a bright strobe light, as well as an extremely high volume audible alarm.
"Over the last 10 years, Delmarva Power's Emergency Services Partnership Program has donated 11,860 smoke alarms to the Maryland Fire Marshal's Office as part of our commitment to public safety," said John Allen, Vice President of Delmarva Power. "We truly appreciate the dedication of the men and women of Maryland's career and volunteer fire service and hope our annual donation will contribute to keeping Maryland residents safe from injury or worse."
"Organizations throughout this area and the country are continually challenged to budget and find the resources they need to help those less fortunate," said William E. Barnard, Maryland State Fire Marshal. "That's why we value and appreciate the partnerships that have been created with a number of businesses, such as Delmarva Power, that want to contribute something meaningful to the communities they serve."
Additional organizations supporting this effort include: The Salisbury Fire Department, Maryland State Firemen's Association, Fire and Burn Safety Coalition of Maryland, Maryland State Fire Prevention Commission and Maryland Fire Chiefs Association.
Lowes Home Improvement Warehouse and Harris Communications of Minnesota provided these alarms to Delmarva Power at a reduced cost to help support this effort.
