Grants Support Energy-related School Projects
SALISBURY , Md . -Teachers from 24 schools in Maryland and Delaware have money to spend on energy-related lessons thanks to Delmarva Power.
The utility company recently awarded $10,338 in grants to support school projects that focus on issues such as energy conservation, recycling, renewable energy and several other topics.
The grant money can be used toward purchasing materials, conducting special lessons and implementing special classroom projects that are not typically supported by school funding.
"I'm thrilled that Delmarva Power is able to provide financial support for projects that provide new academic challenges for students," said John Allen, Vice President, Delmarva Power. "Today's students are our future business leaders, so it's important for Delmarva Power to support educating-enhancing projects."
Grant applications were made available to teachers in Kent and Sussex counties in Delaware and 10 counties in Maryland. Delmarva Power has awarded approximately $198,000 in grant money to local schools for energy-related projects over the last 20 years.
