Utility has eye on week's second winter blast arriving Tuesday
SALISBURY , Md. - Delmarva Power continues to make progress toward restoring power to customers impacted by this past weekend's severe winter storm.
"This is a hard-fought effort and we're so thankful for our customers' patience," said Gary Stockbridge, President, Delmarva Power Region. "It's not over yet, though. We still have work to do, and there is another storm headed our way."
The National Weather Service predicts another snowstorm will hit the region Tuesday and continue into Wednesday.
As of 5 p.m. Monday, Delmarva Power had restored power to approximately 47,000 customers while continuing to work to restore power to 5,800 customers. Most of the remaining outages are in Sussex County, Del.
"We are working as safely and as quickly as possible to get folks back in service, particularly when we know that more snow is on the way," Stockbridge said. "We encourage customers to plan accordingly, but keep safety as their number one priority."
Delmarva Power urges customers to call the outage line at 1-800-898-8045 for any updates regarding their specific outage.
As part of the restoration effort, Delmarva Power is receiving assistance from area contract crews.
As utility crews work hard to restore power, Delmarva Power strongly urges anyone who may see a downed or damaged power line to report it immediately by calling the company's outage line. Additionally, for customers without power, Delmarva Power urges them to unplug or turn off any major appliances since they have the potential to overload system circuits and cause an unnecessary outage when power is restored.
Delmarva Power, a public utility owned by Pepco Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: POM), provides safe and reliable energy to more than 500,000 electric delivery customers in Delaware and Maryland and over 121,000 natural gas delivery customers in northern Delaware .
