SALISBURY, Md. - Delmarva Power crews continue to work around the clock to restore power to affected customers following this weekend's severe winter storm.
The company estimates power will be restored to most of its customers by late Monday , but due to poor travel conditions and challenges with accessing electrical equipment there will be some customers who may not be restored until sometime on Tuesday . Delmarva Power urges customers to call the outage line at 1-8 00-898-8045 for any updates with regards to their specific outage.
"The road conditions have made the assessment of damage and the restoration of electric service challenging, but we continue to make progress in our effort to restore service to customers affected by this weekend's powerful winter storm," said Gary Stockbridge , President, Delmarva Power Region. "We thank our customers for their patience as our crews work around the clock to restore their service."
As of 5 p.m. Sunday, Delmarva Power had approximately 8,300 customers without power with the large majority of those outages in Sussex County , Del . "This is an extended restoration effort, meaning many customers may be without service for up to several days," Stockbridge said. "We encourage customers to plan accordingly, but keep safety as their number one priority."
As utility crews work hard to restore power, Delmarva Power strongly urge s anyone who may see a downed or damaged power line to report it immediately by calling the company's outage line. "We are urging everyone to stay away from downed or damaged power lines," Stockbridge said.
Additionally, for customers without power, Delmarva Power urges them to unplug or turn off any major appliances since they have the potential to overload system circuits and cause an unnecessary outage when power is restored.
