Grants Support Energy-related School Projects
SALISBURY , Md. - From field trips to challenging science projects, teachers in Maryland and Delaware have money to spend on lessons about energy thanks to Delmarva Power.
The utility company recently awarded $7,086 in grants to 14 area schools to support innovative projects with an emphasis on energy-related issues, such as conservation, alternative energy and other topics.
The grant money can be used toward purchasing materials, conducting special lessons, taking field trips and implementing special classroom projects not typically supported by school district funding.
"During these difficult financial times, we're pleased to continue to offer this monetary support to our teachers and students," said John Allen, Vice President, Delmarva Power.
Grant applications were made available to teachers in Kent and Sussex counties in Delaware and 10 counties in Maryland. Delmarva Power has awarded approximately $187,000 in grant money to local schools for energy-related projects over the last 19 years.
