Delmarva Power Receives Community Builder Award

Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County Recognizes Utility

NEWARK , DE - Delmarva Power has been selected to receive Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County's Community Builder Award for 2007. The award will be given at the non-profit group's annual dinner tonight at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Wilmington.

"2007 was a remarkable year for Habitat for Humanity in New Castle County - and we are most grateful for the support we received from Delmarva Power," said Kevin Smith, executive director of the group's New Castle County branch.

When citing reasons for selecting Delmarva Power as this year's award recipient, Smith noted the power company's sponsorship of one of the homes at Hope Landing, a revitalization project under way in downtown Wilmington. In addition, he said the company's employees have devoted a significant amount of volunteer hours to Habitat projects.

"Habitat is a true gift to our community. While Delmarva Power certainly appreciates this community service award, we very much appreciate what Habitat does to make Delaware a better place," said Glenn Moore, vice president, Delmarva Power. Moore, who is a Habitat board member, accepted the award on behalf of Delmarva Power.

In 2007, Habitat's New Castle County affiliate built 16 homes for 16 local families in need. This year, the group plans to build 20 homes in the county.

About Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County: Habitat of NCC has been building hope and homes since 1986. To date, the group has built or renovated more than 120 homes with the helping hands of local low-income families in need.
