WILMINGTON, DEL. - In compliance with the Electric Utility Retail Customer Supply Act of 2006, Delmarva Power today issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the construction of new, cost-effective generation resources in Delaware to provide electricity to the utility's Standard Offer Service customers. Standard Offer Service is the electricity Delmarva Power procures on behalf of its customers who do not purchase their electricity from competing retail suppliers and who do not choose the option of hourly priced service.
The RFP was developed following a months-long open process which included multiple public hearings involving interested citizens and businesses, the Delaware Public Service Commission, Delaware Energy Office, the Office of Management and Budget and Controller General's office for the State of Delaware and Delmarva Power. That process was spelled out in House Bill 6, passed by the General Assembly in response to higher fuel prices nationwide.
