Delmarva Power Hosts Low-Income Summit

Social Service Agencies From 3 States Converge on Wilmington

Wilmington, DE: Delmarva Power, along with sister utility Atlantic City Electric, hosted more than 150 social service agency representatives from throughout the region at a day-long inter-active conference Wednesday designed to provide valuable information and tools to help low-income residents of Delaware, Maryland and New Jersey.  This is the third annual conference hosted by the utilities, but the first time it has been held in Wilmington.

"The states may be different but the challenges faced by low income citizens are similar; meeting basic day-to-day needs for themselves and their families," said Delmarva Power President Gary Stockbridge.  "This summit brings together providers and agencies to share information and resources that will help all of us offer our customers the help they need to meet these challenges," Stockbridge added.

The free summit included workshops, exhibits and speaker presentations from advocates at the local, state and national level including National Low-Income Energy Consortium (NLIEC) Executive Director David Fox, a nationally recognized low-income advocate.  NLIEC works to both improve access to and increase awareness of programs in place to help low-income consumers.

Many of the workshops presented offered information and tools to manage the challenge of higher energy prices.  While there are programs already in place that help customers learn to use energy wisely and obtain energy assistance, the goal of this conference is to get this information to those who need it.

"We are proud of our relationships with our community.  By enhancing our coordination and cooperation with social service agencies, we hope to improve service to our customers," Stockbridge said.

Delmarva Power, a public utility owned by Pepco Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: POM), provides safe, reliable and affordable regulated electric and natural gas delivery services to more than 500,000 customers in Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia.
