First Steps to Switch to Natural Gas
As a homeowner, you need to confirm that natural gas service is available for your property by calling our My Switch to Gas Team at 302-429-3117. Our team will help you determine if natural gas is available in your area and help you learn more about the application and conversion process.
If natural gas is not currently available in your neighborhood, we encourage you and your interested neighbors to each submit a residential gas application. To extend a gas main to your street or subdivision, we require written support from the residents of that community. Applications are available online or by calling one of our Residential Gas coordinators at 302-429-3117. During the review process, we will collect a $200 refundable deposit for each residential gas service application per customer.
The refundable security deposit signifies an individual resident's support for bringing gas service to the neighborhood. The deposit will be refunded if you switch to natural gas within 5 years of the gas main installation. The deposit is also refunded if a community's request does not reach our guidelines to begin construction.
To learn more about this process, please call us at 302-429-3117.
Although we do not provide any monetary rebates, most customers converting to gas are eligible to receive 100 feet of gas main, at no cost, along with a service line and meter. Visit delmarva.com/e to learn about rebate programs.
We recommend that you hire a licensed HVAC or plumber to perform any work in your home. The State of Delaware provides a list of contractors that are registered in the state. Please go to https://contractorregistry.delaware.gov for more information.
