Grants Support Energy-related School Projects
SALISBURY, Md. – Teachers from 15 schools in Maryland and Delaware have money to spend on energy-related lessons, thanks to Delmarva Power.
The utility recently awarded $9,197 in grants to support innovative school projects that focus on subjects such as energy conservation, renewable energy and several other topics.
The grant money will be used to purchase materials, conduct special lessons and create projects that typically are not supported by school funding.
“Delmarva Power is pleased to once again be able to provide financial support for activities that encourage students to take an interest in learning more about the connection between energy and the environment,” said John Allen, Delmarva Power Region Vice President. “We now have awarded more than $217,000 in grant money to area schools for energy-related projects over the last 22 years.”
Teachers in Kent and Sussex counties in Delaware and 10 counties in Maryland were eligible to apply for the grants.
