MARYLAND UTILITIES ISSUE NOTICE OF AMENDED REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR GENERATION CAPACITY RESOURCES UNDER LONG-TERM CONTRACT

Baltimore - On October 7, 2011, Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE), Delmarva Power & Light Company (Delmarva), Potomac Electric Power Company (Pepco), and The Potomac Edison Company (PE) (collectively the Maryland EDCs) issued Requests for Proposals (RFP) for Generation Capacity Resources under long-term contract, as ordered by the Maryland Public Service Commission under Case No. 9214.
On December 8, 2011, the Maryland Public Service Commission amended the RFP and issued a notice to the Maryland EDCs that it was modifying several aspects of the RFP including:
- extending the proposal due date to January 20, 2012;
- encouraging each respondent to submit two proposals—one for a fixed gas price offering and another proposal for a variable gas price offering; and
- requiring each respondent to note in its proposal whether it plans to demonstrate its financial strength to construct the new generating facilities by relying on the financial commitment of a parent or other company.
The RFP schedule, as listed in Section 8 of the RFP, has been modified to reflect the following changes, including the new proposal due date as follows:
