Grants Support Energy-related School Projects
SALISBURY , Md. - Delmarva Power recently awarded $10,191 to teachers from 21 schools in Maryland and Delaware to spend on energy-related lessons.
Grants of up to $500 were given to support projects that enhance students’ education about such topics as energy conservation, recycling and renewable energy. The money is used to buy materials, conduct special lessons and implement projects that are not usually supported by school funding.
“These teachers are to be commended for coming up with ways to provide new academic challenges for their students,” said John Allen, Delmarva Power Vice President. “During these tough economic times, we are pleased to be able to continue to offer our monetary support for worthwhile educational projects.”
Teachers in Kent and Sussex counties in Delaware and 10 counties in Maryland were eligible to apply for the grants. Delmarva Power has awarded more than $208,000 in grant money to area schools for energy-related projects over the last 21 years.
