Monday, October 19, 2009
NEWARK , Del. – October is Energy Awareness Month, a good time for consumers to learn more about how to reduce their individual energy usage to save money and protect the environment.
To help customers learn how to use energy wisely, Delmarva Power offers a free, interactive tool on its Web site, www.delmarva.com, called “My Account.” The Web-based feature enables customers to create their own personal energy profile after completing a few questions concerning the size of their home, the number of people living in it, the age of their appliances and other energy-related information – all of which is used to help customers determine ways they can reduce their energy use and costs.
Delmarva Power launched “My Account” more than three years ago and since then, tens of thousands of customers have logged on to learn how to save energy at home and compare their usage to similar homes in the area.
Here is how to use “My Account:”
· Find a recent Delmarva Power bill since you will need information from it to register.
· Go to delmarva.com;
· Click “My Account”; and
· Register to use the tool and start saving energy and money.
While the use of “My Account” is limited to Delmarva Power customers, the company also offers a variety of tips for saving energy and money on its Web site in the “Our Energy Future” section.
Delmarva Power, a public utility owned by Pepco Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: POM), provides safe and reliable energy to more than 500,000 electric delivery customers in Delaware and Maryland and over 121,000 natural gas delivery customers in northern Delaware .
