Proposed 500-kV Transmission Line Will Enhance Reliability on Eastern Shore

SALISBURY, Md. – Delmarva Power will hold community input meetings during the next several weeks to gather comments and share information about its proposed 230-mile interstate electric transmission line.

Called the Mid-Atlantic Power Pathway (MAPP), 35 miles of the more than $1 billion line would be built on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The line would connect with the Vienna substation in Dorchester County and provide immediate electricity reliability benefits to the region once it is complete.

“We believe this line is critical to supply this region’s power needs today and in the future,” said MAPP Project Manager Vincent Maione. “It is important that Dorchester County residents understand that a route has not been chosen for Dorchester County. We are taking the time to gather input before we choose a route. These meetings are an opportunity for local citizens to be a part of this process.”

Maione said the company will hold five community meetings this month and in early June at multiple locations in Dorchester County. The general public is invited to attend the meetings which will be held as information fairs, with Delmarva Power employees available to gather comments and answer questions.
