Delmarva Power Supports Regional Public Safety Efforts

Tuesday, April 15, 2008

NEWARK, DE – Delmarva Power’s Emergency Services Partnership Program (ESPP) will again be supporting public safety partnerships in Maryland and Delaware in 2008. The program provides resources for fire safety initiatives, first responder safety education, and emergency preparedness.

“We support numerous public safety efforts throughout our service territory,” said Glenn Moore, Vice President, Delmarva Power. “This program has had a major impact in the donation of smoke alarms to state and county fire officials in our service territory.”

Since the year 2000, Delmarva Power, through its partnership program, has provided more than 9,700 regular smoke alarms, 600 carbon monoxide detectors and more than 350 special needs smoke alarms to fire service officials across its service territory. In addition, Delmarva Power sponsors educational conferences that focus on safety and emergency preparedness.

This year, ESPP will be a major sponsor of the Delaware and Maryland Firemens’ Association conferences. The partnership program also will support a mass mailing of electrical and natural gas safety information to fire departments and law enforcement personnel throughout Delmarva Power’s service territory.

“By being a part of these events, we continue to support our community and those who serve to protect it,” said Moore. “Safety is a core value at Delmarva Power. The success of these initiatives helps ensure the health, safety and well-being of our emergency services partners, our customers and the general public.”

At the end of 2007, Delmarva Power had invested more than $420,000 in its Emergency Services Partnership Program.
