Good Neighbor Energy Fund Needs Your Help
WILMINGTON, DE – This holiday season, Delmarva Power customers are encouraged to support a family in need of warmth by making a donation to the Good Neighbor Energy Fund. The fund, founded by Delmarva Power more than 25 years ago, helps pay the heating bills of less-fortunate families. Through the years, the fund has raised more than $5 million and has helped more than 57,000 families in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia with their energy bills.
Delmarva Power customers may make a tax-deductible contribution to the fund through envelopes included with this month’s bills; customers will also receive envelopes with their February 2008 bills. Delmarva Power matches those contributions by giving one dollar for every three dollars donated. The Good Neighbor Energy Fund is administered by the Salvation Army.
“Many families struggle to pay their energy bills, particularly when the weather is extremely cold for an extended period of time,” said Delmarva Power regional Vice President Glenn Moore. “That’s why this partnership among us, our customers and the Salvation Army is an important one for helping those in need.”
Customers may apply for energy assistance through the Good Neighbor Energy Fund by contacting their local Salvation Army Office. Contributions to the fund are made directly to those offices.
