Delmarva Power Launches New “Energy Know How” Campaign

Delmarva Power President Gary Stockbridge today launched the company’s Energy KNOW HOW Campaign, which is designed to provide customers with advice on how to save energy and save money. Stockbridge presented a check for $20,000 to the Warm the Heart Fund, an initiative begun by local heating and air conditioning company Horizon Services to provide new, safe and energy-efficient heating systems to low income Wilmington area residents. Standing inside the home of Wilmington resident Phyllis Ali, the latest recipient of a Warm the Heart furnace, Stockbridge thanked Horizon co-owners Mark Aitken and Dave Geiger for focusing attention on solutions to higher energy costs. In addition to today’s contribution, Delmarva Power made an initial $20,000 donation to this fund in November—bringing the company’s total contribution to $40,000.

“The Warm the Heart Fund focuses on long-term energy solutions. By concentrating on weatherizing and installation of energy efficient and safe equipment vulnerable area residents will be able to cut their energy costs today and into the future,” said Stockbridge who added that providing information to all customers about how they use energy in their homes and businesses and what they can do right now to conserve and save is what Delmarva Power’s Energy KNOW HOW campaign is all about.

Delmarva Power’s Budget Billing Plan is one way customers can begin managing their energy uses. Budget Billing allows the utility’s customers to average out their monthly energy payments and avoid the seasonal peaks in their electric and/or natural gas bills. It also provides customers with a month by month snapshot of the amount of energy being used so customers can make a decision about whether to take additional conservation steps.

Delmarva Power’s 85 Ways to Save brochure is another tool the company provides customers to give specific conservation information. This brochure is available in English and in Spanish.

“Delmarva Power is sensitive to the impact of higher energy costs, but we are working to help customers deal with these higher costs well into the future by helping them to focus on conservation, new energy-efficient technology, and through donations to non-profits such as the Warm the Heart Fund,” Stockbridge said.
