Exceeds Old Peak Set in July 2002
WILMINGTON, Del. - Driven in part by the extremely hot and humid weather our region has been experiencing this week, Delmarva Power''s electric delivery system recorded a new system peak Tuesday, exceeding the old record, which was nearly three years old.
On Tuesday, July 19, the company delivered 3,822 megawatts of electricity to customers on its system, which includes the Delmarva Peninsula, between the hours of 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. This all-time peak exceeded the old record of 3,740 megawatts set on July 29, 2002.
Delmarva Power, a subsidiary of Pepco Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: POM), provides safe, reliable and affordable regulated electric and natural gas delivery services to more than 500,000 customers in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
