WILL YOU ANSWER THE CALL AND HELP YOUR COMMUNITY?
Every day in cities, towns and rural communities throughout our region,
volunteers respond to emergency calls for firefighters, ambulance drivers,
emergency medical technicians and disaster relief personnel. These dedicated
men and women are our first line of defense in natural and man-made disasters.
The problem is numbers. The number of volunteers has not kept up with
the growth in population and the subsequent need for more emergency personnel.
To help recruit new volunteers a toll-free number 1-800-FIRE LINE has been established to match those interested in serving their community with their closest emergency service organization. If you're interested in helping your community, please make the call.
Of General Interest to Delawareans: Interested in answers to your health questions? Try The Consumer Health Library. For more information, call 571-1101 in New Castle County and 1-800-287-0717 in Kent and Sussex Counties. On the Internet www.delamed.org or e-mail: consumer@delamed.org
Volunteers needed! Want to teach someone to read, help plant a tree, or give of your time some other way? Call your state office of volunteerism. In Delaware, call 800-815-5465.
Attention Delaware Seniors! Would you like training to help other people over the age of 60 to prepare their tax forms? Call the Delaware AARP coordinators for more information: Joe Pfaff, 998-6507 or Karl Fresndorf, 654-8232.
