Company donates 200 Carbon Monoxide Alarms to City Lowe’s Donates Smoke Alarms to School Children
WILMINGTON , DE . – Delmarva Power’s Emergency Services Partnership Program partnered with Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse to help the Wilmington Fire Department promote fire safety during October. Delmarva Power donated 200 carbon monoxide alarms to the Wilmington Fire Department and Lowe’s donated smoke alarms to students at Wilmington’s Bancroft Elementary School.
“Delmarva Power’s Emergency Services Partnership Program is in its sixth consecutive year of providing resources to public safety agencies to help keep the public safe,” said Vince Jacono, Coordinator of Delmarva Power’s Emergency Services Partnership Program. “We are donating these carbon monoxide alarms to the Wilmington Fire Department so they can help provide them to residents who need them most.”
“Working together with Delmarva Power and other agencies, we see a valuable partnership that continues to pay dividends every year,” said Willie Patrick, Deputy Chief of the Wilmington Fire Department. “The carbon monoxide alarms will help us address the specific safety needs of city residents. It provides them with another level of protection for their families.”
In addition to Delmarva Power’s donation, Lowe’s Home Improvement Center donated 350 regular smoke alarms to the children that attended a special fire safety presentation at the school.
“The kids today were part of a special event that allowed them to learn why fire safety is so important,” said Frank Antos of Lowe’s in the Brandywine Towne Center. “Our contribution was to make sure they had their own smoke alarm to bring home and our homework was to make sure a parent or guardian could help them install it to keep them and their family safe.”
Today’s event is part of Delmarva Power’s overall commitment to public safety, including the donation of 150 smoke alarms for the hard of hearing in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
