Filing a Claim with Delmarva Power

 

In the event that you have sustained a loss that you feel is the responsibility of Delmarva Power, you may file a claim by calling 1-800-375-7117 and speaking with one of our customer service representatives between the hours of 7am and 7pm Monday through Friday.

Please note that filing a claim is not a guarantee of payment. Upon our receipt of the claim, your claim will be assigned to a member of our Claims Department, who will investigate your claim and determine if there is any liability on the part of Delmarva Power. When our investigation has been completed, you will be contacted and advised as to our position on your claim.

Also, please be aware that our company, like all other utilities, cannot guarantee continuous uninterrupted service. This is outlined in our tariff which is filed with and approved by the States of Delaware and Maryland. Therefore, Delmarva Power will not be liable for damages caused by certain occurrences that are beyond the control of the company. For example, some common causes of claims for which Delmarva Power does not pay are:

  • Acts of God (ex. ice, wind, lightning, hurricanes) and animal contacts (ex. squirrels, birds)
  • Equipment failure
  • Damage to Delmarva Power equipment by others
  • Accidents involving Utility Poles
