Important Facts About Your Delivery Rates

Delmarva Power filed a delivery rate increase request of $14.1 million with the Maryland Public Service Commission on May 6, 2009. The PSC met on Dec. 16, 2009, and gave formal approval for an increase of $7.53 million to be back-billed to Dec. 2, 2009.

For the typical Standard Offer Service Maryland residential customer using 1,000 kWh of electricity a month, that means an increase of $1.66, going from $150.03 to $151.69. This request represents a 1.1 percent increase on the overall bill for the residential customer using 1,000 kWh.

The rate increase request is being driven primarily by the higher cost of improvements to the electric system.

Maryland customers who purchase their electricity supply from a supplier other than Delmarva Power will see the same delivery rate increase but their new total monthly bill will depend on the per-kilowatt-hour price charged by their supplier.

While delivery rates will also increase for commercial and industrial customers, the impact on those customers would vary according to usage.
