• Application Guidelines

  • The following information is intended to outline key steps in the application process and provide helpful hints when applying for interconnection.

    1. Submit interconnection application

    Applicant Action

    • Applicants must complete all fields on the application agreement. The applicant name must match the customer name of record on the account.
    • The application and interconnection agreement must be signed and the application fee attached when submitting to the Green Power Connection Team
    • The application fee must be received along with the complete application in order for the application processing to proceed.
    • The Green Power Connection Team will contact applicants to obtain additional information or the correct application fee; however, this may delay processing the application.

                   

    2. Receive application receipt confirmation

    Company Action

    • The Green Power Connection Team will email an acknowledgement to the applicant/contractor to indicate that the application has been received with complete information and an accurate application fee.
    • If any incomplete application is received, the Green Power Connection Team will send an email to advise the customer of any requirements that must be met before the application may be processed.
    • The application will now be reviewed by Delmarva Power to determine circuit impact, specific operating conditions, etc.

                   

    3. Receive application review results

    Company Action

    • The Green Power Connection Team will contact the applicant/contractor via email to provide the application review results.
    • The review results may indicate that equipment on the electric system must be upgraded to enable the applicant's interconnection to proceed. If this is the case, the Green Power Connection Team will communicate any upgrade requirements via email and work with the applicant and the appropriate areas within Delmarva Power to complete the required upgrades.
    • The review results may indicate that the applicant must adhere to specific operating requirements. If this is the case, the Green Power Connection Team will document the specific operating requirements in AttachmentX (attachment varies by state) of the interconnection agreement. The applicant will be required to sign Attachment X (attachment varies by state), thereby agreeing to adhere to the operating requirements, and return the signed attachment and interconnection agreement to the Green Power Connection Team within 30 days or extension granted.

                   

    4. Receive Approval to Install

    Company Action

    • Once the initial interconnection application has been reviewed and approved, the Green Power Connection Team will email the applicant the Approval to Install notification. Applicants should not install any renewable energy system components until this written notification is received.

                   

    5. Submit Certificate of Completion and Electrical Inspection Certification

    Customer Action

    • The Certificate of Completion and Electrical Inspection Certification should be completed and submitted after the renewable energy system has been installed an appropriately tested.
    • The Certificate of Completion and Electrical Inspection Certification should be sent directly to the Green Power Connection Team.
    • Upon receipt of the Certification of Completion and Electrical Inspection Certification, the Green Power Connection Team will have the customer's meter reprogrammed/ exchanged to support the renewable energy system.

                   

    6. Final Approval to Operate

    Company Action

    • The written utility Final Approval to Operate will be sent upon completion of all above actions. Including until the receipt of the signed Certificate of Completion and Electrical Inspection Certification and confirmation that all electric system upgrades are completed, operating requirements are signed (as necessary) and the appropriate meter has been installed. The utility Final Approval to Operate a customer generator is required before operation of the installed generator is allowed.
    • The renewable energy system should not be turned on until the written Approval to Operate notification is received.
